W ilton House is a classic English town house with a documented history that pre dates 1470. An early 18th century façade now conceals its medieval origins. It is described by Pevsner (The Buildings of England) as the most ambitious house in Hungerford.

H ungerford is a quiet, pretty historic market town on the borders of Berkshire and Wiltshire, well known for its many antique shops. The River Kennet and the Kennet and Avon Canal both run through the town.

D irections

F rom London and Heathrow: Take the westbound M4 motorway to junction 14. Turn off left to Hungerford on the A338. After 3 miles turn right onto the A4 on the outskirts of Hungerford. At the Bear Hotel turn left onto the A338 Salisbury road, over the Canal Bridge and into the High Street. Wilton House is on the right hand side, 200 yards past the town hall.
