Which? Named this 17 th century gem as the best value hotel in the New Forest. Cottage Lodge is the perfect base for walking, cycling or enjoying a romantic break in the New Forest national park. This small and friendly hotel has excellent WiFi in every room, free personalised reserved parking for every guest, free cakes when you return from your day on the forest, excellent service, scrupulous cleanliness, good quality mattresses and comfortable rooms rated 94% on Trip Advisor. There is an on site restaurant and 10 other pubs or restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Cycle hire is close by. The Cottage Lodge was constructed in 1650 from reclaimed ships timbers (from the Kings Fleet, at Bucklers Hard), hand made bricks and sand.

It has been extended into a superb 15-bedroom Hotel. You can experience the original building in the charming beamed Snug Bar or the Gillies Restaurant.

The Foresterís Master Bedroom and Knightwood are the two original bedrooms.

The Verdererís Rest was added when the stables were brought into the building at the turn of the century.

The Mills, Rhinefield, Bolderwood and Exbury were added in 1940.

King William, Wilverley, Burley, Tom Hayter, Morant, James Hill, Standing Hat, Gillies Holt are latest additions.

The New Forest is a very romantic place to visit. Cottage Lodge is located in the Victorian New Forest village of Brockenhurst. Brockenhurst has first class fine dining, friendly pubs and two world-class spa's. So you have all the advantages of a charming village in a the middle of a beautiful forest.

There are plenty of relaxing ways to fill your day whilst in the forest. The 94,000 acres of forest and heathland are ideal for romantic walks, cycle rides (bike hire nearby - why not try a tandem) or horse rides.

All the rooms at Cottage Lodge are delightful but there are some particularly romantic rooms: The Burley (patio garden), the Wilverley (particularly large room with patio garden), The Exbury (balcony, lounge) and the James Hill (four poster with balcony). Cottage Lodge, the Guardian's Choice as the Best B&B in the New Forest, is delighted to be one of the first Hotels in the New Forest to offer the New Forest Breakfast. Designed by master chef David Ryan, the cooked breakfast is made from ingredients sourced principally from the New Forest. Martyn Evans from Forest Friendly Farming has worked tirelessly to re-establish the supply network for these products and many local people have returned to farming in order to bring you this very high quality breakfast. A vegetarian option is available.

New Forest Activities

The New forest
Cottage Lodge Hotel Brockenhurst is situated in the heart of the New Forest National Park. The new park is 94,000 of open forest and heathland stretching from the South coast to north of Southampton. The forest is beautiful all year round. It is particularly popular in the spring and autumn when the colours in the forest are at their best. New Forest Ponies, cattle, pigs and donkeys wander freely about the forest.

The park has 192 kilometers of wide, gravelled off road cycling paths, hundreds of miles of walking tracks and endless places to horseride.

Physical Activities:
For the more energetic of you the forest offers plenty of Walking opportunities. There is also Cycling and Brokenhurst has two local hire shops in case you have forgotten your own. For a slightly more leisurely experience there is Horse riding and with three local stables close to hand you can venture across the forest on horse back.

Days out:
The train offers many opportunities for days out to the surrounding areas. Of course you can travel to many different places in the forest and its surrounds by car.

Leisure and Pleasure:
If you are more in tune with rest and relaxation Brokenhurst has a good deal of eating and drinking facilities. However, you may wish to break the day up with a few rounds of Golf, or if you have the wish to truly pamper yourself you could try one of the local Spa's.

Also close to Beaulieu Motor Museum, near Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway, near Isle of Wight Ferry Terminal, near Lymington.
